Don’t Hold Your Investments For Too Long

Why It’s Better to Sell Your Lego Sets Sooner from Youtuber- Brick Bucks

Don’t Hold Your Investments For Too Long

Lego sets are a fantastic investment option. You can really grow your wealth by buying Lego sets before they’re no longer manufactured. However, many people wonder why you should sell your Lego sets after just a year or two, instead of holding onto them for five or ten years. Well, here’s the scoop:

Firstly, Lego sets tend to grow in value faster over the first couple of years. While some sets continue to increase in value for years afterward, the annual return on investment gradually decreases. This is why I prefer to sell my sets at that point and reinvest in another set before it retires. By doing so, I can enjoy that quick growth once again in the first year or two.

Secondly, the LEGO Group often re-releases sets from time to time. So, imagine investing in the Death Star and holding onto it for a decade, only to have a new Death Star released in the future. Selling your set sooner minimizes the impact of any re-release in the future, unless it happens immediately, which is quite rare.

And finally, reason number three is compounding. I prefer to sell my Lego sets more frequently because it allows for a higher turnover of money. By reinvesting the profits into new inventory, my collection grows significantly. This way, I am able to compound my gains and maximize the growth of my inventory.

In summary, holding onto Lego sets for too long may not be the most profitable approach. Selling them after a year or two allows for quicker growth and capitalizes on the initial surge in value. Additionally, it guards against potential re-releases by the LEGO Group. Ultimately, more frequent selling and reinvesting leads to greater compounding and a larger inventory.

So, don’t be afraid to let go of your Lego sets sooner rather than later. The key to maximizing your Lego investments is to keep the turnover flowing and stay ahead of the game. Happy Lego investing!
