The BrickHeadz Spice Girls Tribute LEGO set is exactly that: a tribute. By being the first real people to be represented as BrickHeadz, LEGO honors the ground-breaking group while giving their fans worldwide a unique way to display their favorite band.
All five members of the pioneering female British pop group get the exaggerated styling the BrickHeadz line is known for with its figure-based LEGO sets. As a result, you’ll get Spice Girl figures that embrace the fun and energy that made the band both popular and trailblazing in the 1990s.
As you can tell by the age rating and number of pieces, this set is more intricate along the lines of LEGO Architecture sets. And like those sets, the Spice Girls Tribute is meant to be displayed.

One of the biggest things LEGO and Minecraft have in common, other than their huge respective popularity, is the fact that both inspire great creativity. So, LEGO Minecraft is hard to go wrong with, especially if you’re looking for a gift for the holiday season.
The LEGO Minecraft The Guardian Battle set is no different as it focuses on an under-the-sea environment that is ripe for creativity.
It’s also a good transitional set for older kids (note the 8+ age rating) that want to move into more complicated LEGO sets but don’t want to become overwhelmed by too many pieces or too complex of a design.
This LEGO Minecraft set is simple and straightforward but also open enough to allow for the imagination to work its wonders.
- Set #: 71776
- MSRP (USA): $49.99
- Piece Count: 536
- Minifigures: 4
- Price Per Piece: $0.09
- Release Date: 1/1/2022

LEGO Ninjago has been hugely popular over the years. Not just when it comes to LEGO sets and mini-figures, but also the animated shows and movie have all proven successful amongst all age ranges of LEGO fans.
The LEGO Ninjago Jay and Nya’s Race Car EVO set continues this tradition of popular appeal by providing two ninja vehicles for the price of one, along with 4 mini-figures. This will give kids hours of ninja adventures to create in either Ninjago city or another LEGO city of their choice.
Over 500 pieces, 4 mini-figures, a car and a helicopter make this total set a good bargain for a Ninjago LEGO collectable.
- Set #: 41700
- MSRP (USA): $39.99
- Piece Count: 380
- Minifigures: 3
- Price Per Piece: $0.11
- Release Date: 1/1/2022
- Age Rating: 6+
- Build Time: ~ 90 minutes to 2 hours
The LEGO Friends Beach Glamping set is far from a complicated build. Although it has close to 400 pieces, it mainly consists of small building pieces for a small beach scene.
The lack of complexity fits the age rating of 6+. Although not a standout set, it’ll appeal to collectors or fans of the LEGO Friends line. In addition, it’s unique setting, scenery pieces, and number of mini-figures make it a worthwhile investment or gift for kids for the price category.
- Set #: 42136
- MSRP (USA): $29.99
- Piece Count: 390
- Minifigures: 0
- Price Per Piece: $0.08
- Release Date: 3/1/2022
- Age Rating: 8+
- Build Time: ~ 2 hours
The LEGO Technic line of sets proudly offer more challenging builds and the Technic John Deere 4WD tractor is no different. Although it states 8+ in the age rating, if you’re any age and not used to this number of pieces with a smaller set, you’ll find it challenging as promised.
Also, some may think it’s a perfect gift for kids, and it is if they’re up for difficulty. You really need to take into consideration that, yes, it is a tractor, but it’s also a set that focuses on the engineering design and functionality of a tractor in LEGO form. This may not appeal to all kids.
But it will definitely appeal to anyone who’s into challenges and alternate builds compared to more traditional sets.
- Set #: 42137
- MSRP (USA): $49.99
- Piece Count: 422
- Minifigures: 0
- Price Per Piece: $0.12
- Release Date: 1/1/2022
- Age Rating: 9+
- Build Time: ~ 2 hours
Like the Technic John Deere 4WD tractor, the Technic Formula E Porche 99X Electric also provides a challenging build that focuses on not just form but the engineering design and mechanics of a real vehicle. This time, though, it’s in the form of a race car instead of a farm tractor. Even more, it’s a set that’s based on a real electric Formula E race car.
Unlike the John Deere 4WD tractor, this set is targeted at an age range of 9+. Based on the price and number of pieces, the bump up in age range is probably based on the fact this is a more challenging build. Not to mention, it comes with the pull-back and trigger release function that actually allows the car to race.
Pound-for-pound, it’s hard to top this as a playable set, perfect display piece, and last minute gift idea.
- Set #: 42138
- MSRP (USA): $49.99
- Piece Count: 544
- Minifigures: 0
- Price Per Piece: $0.09
- Release Date: 1/1/2022
- Age Rating: 9+
- Build Time: ~ 3 hours
The last in the Technic line for this list, the Technic Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 comes in at the same price as the Porsche 99X Electric with over a hundred more pieces. In addition, it also comes with the pull-back and trigger release function.
The great thing about the Technic Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, besides the bang for your buck in regards to the retail price, is how well it does capturing the ferocity of the real life version.
If a car with muscle that looks built for epic movie action scenes is your thing, look no further.
- Set #: 71399
- MSRP (USA): $39.99
- Piece Count: 504
- Minifigures: 3
- Price Per Piece: $0.08
- Release Date: 1/1/2022
- Age Rating: 7+
- Build Time: ~2 hours
Some of the positives of the Super Mario Luigi’s Mansion Entryway Expansion set are that it’s both challenging and interactive. It comes with a buildable mansion entrance and three LEGO Super Mario figures all with a ghostly theme.
If you’re a fan of Super Mario, Luigi, and the whole world of Super Mario, then this will not disappoint.
What may disappoint you is that this is indeed an expansion set, expanding upon the LEGO Super Mario Adventures with Luigi Starter Course set. It’s recommended to have that set first, and it’s currently hard to find, according to the LEGO site, and is over $50 at its regular price.
- Set #: 75324
- MSRP (USA): $29.99
- Piece Count: 166
- Minifigures: 4
- Price Per Piece: $0.18
- Release Date: 3/1/2022
- Age Rating: 8+
- Build Time: ~ 1 hour
If you’re a fan of Star Wars then you’re probably up-to-date on the hit Disney+ show The Mandalorian. If you are, you’re completely aware of the scene this LEGO Star Wars Dark Trooper Attack recreates.
Set inside an Imperial Light Cruise, you get to play or display or both the incredible hallway scene where Luke Skywalker showed his Jedi skills against a bunch of android Dark Troopers (if you can imagine a killer robot, you understand a Dark Trooper).
It’s a small set but for the price, you get the hallway and four mini – figures. Yes, three of the mini – figures are Dark Troopers but the fourth is Luke Skywalker himself, including his green lightsaber.
No, it’s not a big set like a LEGO Star Wars AT-ST Raider, and it doesn’t include other iconic characters like Obi-Wan Kenobi or even Grogu, but again, for the price, you can’t beat it (although that LEGO AT-ST Raider would have been a sweet pick-up, too).
- Set #: 76181
- MSRP (USA): $29.99
- Piece Count: 392
- Minifigures: 2
- Price Per Piece: $0.08
- Release Date: 1/1/2022
- Age Rating: 8+
- Build Time: ~ 90 minutes to 2 hours
With new Batman movies come new Batmobiles. With both, of course, come new LEGO Batman playsets. So, with the 2022 release of The Batman movie comes the LEGO DC Batmobile: The Penguin Chase set, complete with the new rendition of the Batmobile (this time based on a classic Dodge Charger frame).
This set also recreates the now iconic Batmobile chase from the movie involving the Penguin. So, an iconic movie car with two iconic movie action figures, all in a fantastic LEGO format…
Yeah, this one speaks for itself both what comes in the box and the final price out the door.
- Set #: 76398
- MSRP (USA): $49.99
- Piece Count: 510
- Minifigures: 4
- Price Per Piece: $0.10
- Release Date: 3/1/2022
- Age Rating: 8+
- Build Time: ~ 2 to 3 hours
When it comes to collectibility and playability, few LEGO lines rival Star Wars more than Harry Potter. The LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Hospital Wing continues that tradition with a simple but popular scene.
Simple is used in reference to the set layout, not necessarily the difficulty of the build. At 510 pieces, you’re getting your money’s worth in bricks. However, the set is focused on exactly what the title says, the Hogwarts Hospital Wing.
Although limited in location, the set offers a large range of mini-figures and exciting pieces.
- Set #: 76951
- MSRP (USA): $39.99
- Piece Count: 254
- Minifigures: 5
- Price Per Piece: $0.16
- Release Date: 4/17/2022
- Age Rating: 7+
- Build Time: ~ 90 minutes
Looking for a monstrous-but-enjoyable build? Look no further than the LEGO Jurassic World Pyroraptor & Dilophosaurus Transport set. Although the original Jurassic Park films are now decades-old movies, the Jurassic World movies have more than picked up the mantle and moved the entire universe into the modern age.
With the new movies come new LEGOs, of course. This one is a great set from a playability standpoint. With only a vehicle and minifigures, you’re pretty much unrestrained about where you can drop these bricks.
Want to see a couple of dinosaurs roaming your choice of LEGO City sets? Go for it. The point is, this set is perfect for the imagination with its three characters, a transport vehicle, and two dinosaur mini-figures ready to escape. Just in time for any holiday shopping season.
Final Thoughts
There you have them. Twelve of the best and unique LEGO sets released in 2022 so far that are under $50. Maybe you like some more than others. Then again, perhaps you like them all or know someone who will.
The main thing is, there are some great sets out there for a decent price. And there are plenty that will appeal to pretty much anyone.
