Creating the Best LEGO Beach: A Fun and Beachy Transformation

Hey party people, welcome back to the LEGO city! Today, we’re taking on a big project – the beach! The beach in my LEGO city is the first thing you see when you arrive, but it’s been under construction for like a year now. So, it’s time to make it the main focus before I tackle anything else in the city.

Now, I don’t think the beach itself looks too bad, but it’s the water and the ocean surrounding it that need some work. I started Googling LEGO mocks of beaches for some ideas, and that’s when I stumbled upon something amazing – a completely tiled-over beach! I fell in love with the design and knew I had to implement it in my LEGO city.

You might think, “Tiling over a beach? Isn’t that weird?” Well, yes, it is a little strange. Beaches are usually sandy and not smooth, but zoom out a bit and you’ll realize that the water washes over it and creates a smooth surface. So, I decided to go for it and create a contrast between the tiled beach and the grassy, textured area behind it. It’ll make the beach stand out and look cleaner. Who knew tiling a beach could be so fancy?

The first step in this grand transformation was to remove what was already there. I had to say goodbye to all the accessories, animals, and people enjoying the sun. But don’t worry, I’ll find new places for them soon enough.

Now, onto the tiling! Luckily, I had a ton of different tan tiles in various shapes and sizes. I wanted to find the perfect balance between a flat tiled surface and some studs to add accessories and make it feel lively. And let me tell you, using those tan chi slopes came in handy when I didn’t do my math right. It’s the lazy girl’s LEGO city update!

Once the tiles were in place, it was time for the fun part – adding accessories! I brought out beach umbrellas, Darth Vader enjoying a tanning bed, a rocker chick, a girl listening to music, and even a coconut under a tree. Why not add a little Luke’s land speeder too? It’s all about creating that beachy vibe. Oh, and don’t forget the beach towel! I came up with a design that looked decent, with tassels on the end for a playful touch.

Of course, we needed some beachgoers too. I found the perfect spot for a fisherman with his fishing pole, although I might change his face printing later. And who’s that surfing? It’s none other than Patrick from Spongebob, riding a little wave I built. How cute is that?

I didn’t forget about the surf shack either. Instead of building a new jet ski, I settled for an inflatable raft for now. It’s something you can rent from the shack. Simple, but it works!

To make the coastline look more finished, I added more bricks and even a dock. It’s all coming together!

Now, onto the most exciting part – the water. I had a clear vision in my mind, thanks to an amazing LEGO build I saw at a convention. They used a technique where the ocean wasn’t completely pushed down, creating an uneven and realistic appearance. I know it might not be “legal,” but hey, the LEGO police aren’t going to come and fix my ocean, right? It’s all about creating those waves and giving the ocean some life.

For the texturing, I used a combination of transparent blue tiles and different shades of blue cheese slopes. The transparent white ones mimic the foam in the ocean perfectly. It took some trial and error to get the texturing just right, but I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. It’s a work in progress, but that’s the beauty of LEGO!

And before I even finished, I couldn’t resist adding a surfer. I built a little wave using plates to elevate the pieces, grabbed a green surfboard, and found a Patrick minifigure. Just like that, we have a surfer dude catching some waves in the LEGO city!

Overall, I’m super proud of this beach transformation. It feels so much more alive and fun now. The tiled beach, the textured water, the accessories – it’s all coming together to create the perfect LEGO beach.

Stay tuned for more updates and hopefully, many more beachy adventures in the LEGO city. Catch you later, beach bums!
