As the second Lego seasonal set yet to be released in 2022, the Lego 40523 Easter Rabbits Display is certainly worthy of a place on your mantel this Easter.
It is a follow-on set from the Lego Valentine’s Day Valentine Lovebird set released in January ready for the holiday.
With two seasonal sets out now, we can gather a clearer picture of what to expect from the rest of the 2022 Lego seasonal sets.
So far, there has been a clear correspondence between an animal and the holiday’s theme. That only leaves more anticipation for what the next adorable animal display set will be. Though it will be hard to beat the cute rabbits of the Lego 40523 Easter Rabbits Display.
Let’s build these Lego Easter Rabbits and break down how it compares to the previous Valentine Lovebird success.

Box Contents
At first glance, the box that the Lego 40523 Easter Rabbit comes in is quite dull. A plain lime green backdrop with a few tulips and Easter eggs scattered around the main set.
However, this only highlights the vibrant colors of the set itself, which is one of the main selling points of this set.
Despite only having 288 pieces, those pieces are spread out over 7 bags. This is a little excessive, though makes sense for how the set is intended to be built. One of the bags is solely for the set’s accessories: 5 Easter eggs and 3 tulips.
The set includes 2 instruction manuals that separate the set into the main rabbits and the base/accessories.
Building Notes
Even though the set includes two booklets with the clear intent to be built by two people, how the instructions are split makes it a little difficult to enjoy a build with another person.
Unlike the Lego Valentine’s lovebirds set where two builders could build their birds simultaneously, only one builder can work on the rabbits while the other has to either wait to build their own rabbit or work on the base.
But who wants to share this build..well I guess that is not in the spirit of this holiday.
That being said, the colored rabbit designs are very innovative and fun to build. A mixture of curved slopes and flat shapes makes for a pair of fun, adorable builds.
Both the rabbits and the base of this set are very easy to build, though it can be frustrating to make the rabbits stick to their designated base pegs.
LEGO Minifigures & Characters
The Lego Easter Rabbits Display includes none of its own minifigures. Instead, the pair of rabbits act as the set’s characters.
Both of the rabbits are full of different personalities, unlike the two lovebirds from Lego’s Valentine set which were built identical bar their colors.
The rabbits included in the Lego 40523 Easter Rabbits Display set also have their own colors.
A brown rabbit stands on its hind legs, playfully rubbing its paws together while the white rabbit takes on a more relaxed pose.
Collectible Display vs Playability
As the name suggests, the Lego 40523 Easter Rabbits Display set is intended for display.
Between the vibrant display base and perfect posed rabbit characters, this is one set with an impactful presence.
Multiple colored Easter eggs and tulip flowers allow you to change up the scene as you wish.
So, even though the set is not really for play, it does have some playful elements.
More Brick For Your Buck
Retailing at $12.99 and including 288 pieces, the Lego Easter Rabbits Display set is worth its price point.
The build is simple so if you are not a fan of simple, animal-based sets then this is not the right set for you.
But if you are wanting to do something different with your kids this Easter, then this might be the perfect solution for you without spending a load of money.
Potential Lego Investment Value
One of the main selling points of the Lego Easter Rabbits Display is the number of vibrant color bricks that the set uses.
In terms of selling value, 287 are not worth much more than $0.04.
However, the set does include a rare 2 x 2 transparent dark pink dome egg piece.
As of 2/2022, this brick has only been included in 5 other sets since being released in 2021. Sellers price the brick at $0.07 on Bricklink. This brick alone means that you will certainly get your moneys worth if you split up the set to resell.
Easter sets don’t have a track record of doing exceptionally well right after they retire. They tend to appreciate a little slower compared to other LEGO Seasonal sets. Take a look below at some previous Easter sets and how they appreciated.
To get 100% ROI you would need to sell this at around $35 after market fees and a buy cost of $12.99.
This is quite a mediocre value compared to other seasonal sets increased such as the Lego Christmas sets which have seen over a 300% value increase.
Still, that is not to say that you shouldn’t invest in the Lego Easter Rabbits Display set.
Its array of colors and rare translucent dark pink dome piece makes it a decent enough set to be worth buying and splitting up for resale.
Though you will have to do so quickly as the translucent dark pink dome brick is likely to lose its rarity in the coming years, decreasing the set’s estimated value.
